The Band
Michael Beasley started playing music at
an early age. From local talent shows to retirement homes,
her desire to perform was instinctual. Michael sang back-up
with her father James' various bands at county fairs and
town squares. It wasn't long before the pair was performing
as a duo, doing Chistmas shows and local revues. At first
Michael sang back-up to James' lead, but over time they
traded roles.
Meanwhile, James had been working with his
long time friend Scott Jaeger at getting an original project
off the ground. Their story is a comedy of drummers reminiscent
of Spinal Tap. After many false starts and personnel changes,
the project seemed doomed and was abandoned. Though it was
sad when they finally hauled their equipment out the rehearsal
space, they remained in touch and occasionally jammed.
It was about this time Michael approached
her dad about teaming together to write songs. The two immediately
began composing material, some which would eventually appear
on her 'Unmedicated' EP. Coincidentally, Scott had
begun playing with his old friend, drummer Jason Sink, back
from a five year stint on the west coast. While Scott and
Jason looked around for a project, Michael asked her dad
if there was any way they could assemble a band to play
a talent show at the local high school.
After one rehearsal the band played the original
song "Serious" before a gymnasium full of enthusiasts. The
tremendous reception of the band convinced the players to
go into rehearsals. Two months later they emerged from Catamount
Studios with the EP 'Unmedicated'.

two or three live acts a week. He also enjoys watching bar fights from

things for two hours and we haven’t even played a song yet."
